NFL Draft: New Players Sign the Dotted Line

The New England Patriots signed free agent cornerback Eddie Jackson. The Patriots did not disclose the terms of the contract. Jackson, who spent the last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, had six tackles in 14 games last year. . . .

The New York Jets re-signed offensive tackle Anthony Clement, who was an unrestricted free agent entering his 10th NFL season. . . .

Linebacker Colby Bockwoldt signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Bockwoldt played mostly on special teams for the Tennessee Titans last season after two years with the New Orleans Saints, starting 16 games in 2005. . . .

The Detroit Lions signed wide receiver Shaun McDonald to a two-year deal. In four seasons with the St. Louis Rams, McDonald had 106 receptions for 1,215 yards and four touchdowns.

Hard times in the NFL offseason...

Will the Patriots will be good in 2007? In previous years, it seemed the Colts' whole offseason game plan focused on finding a way to beat the Patriots. Now it seems to be reversed. The Pats are filling their holes quite effectively...

 

NFL Draft: Marcus Hamilton for the Bears?

Chicago Bears: On the surface, the Bears appear to be in pretty good shape at cornerback. Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman are a solid starting pair, and Ricky Manning Jr. played well last year in the nickel package. Nevertheless, Chicago talked to the agent of Virginia cornerback Marcus Hamilton at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Could he be creeping up GM Jerry Angelo's draft board?
